Things to do with kids in Byron & Ballina Shires – Week 2 of Spring School Holidays!

Hopefully you have survived Week 1 of the Spring school holiday in Byron and Ballina Shires.
Our local business have put a fantastic array of activities, events, performances, workshops and festivals to delight and entertain you and they’ve heaps more lined up for this week.
Whether you are on holiday in Byron or Ballina Shires or a lucky local who gets to live here all year round, there’s plenty to do from FREE STUFF to FANCY STUFF but above all, it’s FUN STUFF!!
THINGS TO DO
The Farm Byron Bay has Week 2 of hands-on, exciting, green-finger kids workshops;
Bunnings Ballina and Bunnings Byron Bay have tie-dying workshops on this week.
The Lennox Art Collective’s theme for Tuesday is Turtles… which you can also see for real if you take the super interesting and kid-friendly tour at Australian Seabird Rescue in Ballina.
Both Ballina Fair and Ballina Central have a combination of crafty fun with the Sand Wizard and clowning around with Shorty Brown.
Talking of clowning around; although the fantastical Mullum Circus Fest has closed its Big Top for another year; Circus Arts Byron Bay have a kids show on all this week – The Snor’s Travelling Circus and they are offering fun FREE BALLOON TWISTING workshops every day during the week.
Also on the Arts & Industry Estate is Creative Base who are hosting some very crafty workshops for ages 8+
Byron Bay Cinema (The Palace Cinema) and Ballina Fair Cinema are both showing Blinky Bill (G) and Oddball (G) suitable for the whole family and The Pighouse Flicks in Byron is showing Dr Proctors Fart Powder (PG).
The Macadamia Castle is a fantastic kid-friendly local attraction and well worth a visit, as is The Crystal Castle. My children simply adore following the Crystal Labyrinth and walking the Damanhur Spiral. And did we mention the music of the plants?
Summerland House Farm has some fabulous school holiday activities on this week including the Kidz Klub Artie Fartie Parties and their Sunday Funday of pony rides and MegaDome Jumping Castle!
There are FREE KIDS DISCOS; Club Lennox is hosting Kid’s Movie Character Disco on Tuesday evening and Cherry St Sports in Ballina is holding a GLOW Disco with glow-sticks and glow-paint fun on Friday evening!
If you’re looking for markets… and combining that experience with young kids – Mullumbimby has a wonderful Farmers Market every Friday with a dedicated ‘Kids Plot’ to keep the children entertained with creative, hands-on activities. Byron Bay Markets will be on Sunday 4 October with lush food, live music and loads of fun things to do.
