Spring School Holiday Activities & Events for Kids and Families in Byron Bay and Beyond!
26 September, 2018
Wow, I’ve been so busy here with the recent upgrades to the website
- Upgrade to HTTPS – safer browsing
- Updates to Mobile View – better user experience
- Updates to What’s On Guide – direct clickable booking links within the Calendar
- A new membership option for our What’s On Guide
that I am almost shocked that were are in the last week of term!
I say ‘almost’ because I have been sending and receiving emails and information left, right and centre about all the fun stuff that’s coming up this holidays but I was convinced I had more time up my sleeve… September has truly eluded me!
Still – as of this moment, I have added every single activity and event I have received info about to the What’s On Guide along with clickable booking links and/or contact details within the description to make it super-easy for you to reserve your spot!
I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that I am deeply grateful for your support with the launch of the membership access to the What’s On Guide. I have received some really touching, generous and supportive comments and emails. 💛💛💛💛
I don’t know how many of you know, but it’s just me, on my own, at home running this website. All the research, following up, blog posts and regular social media posts to create this handy community resource is done by just me, Michelle.
I have tried my utmost to secure advertising to support the site from local businesses and although some wonderful businesses have generously come on board, it has been nowhere near enough for it to be a financially sustainable option.
In order to continue to provide such a dedicated service – it has required some resources to do this. Hence on 7 September, a nominal annual fee of $5 was introduced for you to gain exclusive Member Only Access to the What’s On Guide.
Once again, I am grateful for your support in enabling me to provide such a comprehensive local family friendly guide that gives its best to provide a lotta bang for your $5 bucks.

I think I’ve mentioned before that as a child I used to go to Musical Theatre shows with my grandparents and I’ve passed this love on to my children. Not only that BUT, one of my childhood favourite movies – ANNIE is being performed by Bright Lights Performance School at Byron Theatre. Simply frothing is not enough to describe how we can’t wait to go along and join in some old favourites (yes, I’m a tragic and my kids have the soundtrack and LOVE IT!)
Annie Jr – Bright Lights Performance School Musical Theatre students proudly present the smash hit musical comedy, Annie JR. An exciting stage production for the whole family. Annie was a baby when she was abandoned on the front steps of The New York Municipal Orphanage, with half a locket and a note from her parents promising to return to her one day. Now, 11 years later, this young orphan girl still lives in the miserable orphanage run by the terrible Miss Hannigan.
Don’t miss this Musical Extravaganza and relive the songs you know and love!
Imaginitis with Shorty Brown – Hands up who loves Shorty Brown!! Well, she’s back this school holidays with her awesome show Imaginitis at Byron Theatre this school holidays on 8 & 9 October only from 10.30am – 12pm. My kids are so excited we’ve already got our tickets sorted – they so don’t want to miss out!
Shorty’s shows are not only highly interactive, they are packed full of magic, bubbles and extreme silliness that kids absolutely love!! The squeals and peals of laughter, the uncontrollable giggles – the all round fun… it’s a joy to watch and be a part of.
Bunny Racket – Bunny Racket is here to rock you with one session only on Sunday 7 October. Whether you are 3 or 103 years old, you will not be able to resist the beautiful madness of King Bunny and his gang of fluffy punk rock friends. The Bunny Racket sound is heavily influenced by the likes of The Ramones, KISS, Black Sabbath and The Muppets among others. Buy the ticket and take the ride, because classics like ‘A Chicken Is Not A Fruit’ and ‘Never Shake A Rattlesnake’ will have you grooving uncontrollably.
Circus Arts will be presenting their fantastic Major Annual Circus Show IMPOSSIBLE on 28 and 29 September. Join them on a philosophical journey of discovery and mystery as they travel through time and explore the ideas of impossible through their bodies and minds. An abundance of circus acts and theatrical improvisation promise an unforgettable night of entertainment!

Combine this with a session from Brunswick Picture House’s The Big Picture House Little Kids Story Telling rounded off with some fresh fish and chips and your family friendly fun day is made!
There are 3 children’s story telling sessions from local authors at Brunswick Picture House on Wednesday 3 October – each with their own unique workshop following the event.
