Easter Holidays Family Fun In Byron Bay and Beyond!!

Ok, it’s not been the most awesome of weather but they are here – NSW Easter School Holidays have arrived!!!
Now, I’m sure that many of you will have family stuff happening over Easter but I can tell you that there are some lovely family friendly events and activities happening during the holidays and quite a few of them take place over Easter Weekend too.
Once again there are some exciting new additions to the Calendar of Events this school holidays and with some days boasting over 20 different activities, events and workshops … I can almost guarantee you won’t be stuck for things to do with the kids!
Want to get out of the rain but stay active?
Yes, no one wishes for rainy holidays but sometimes they do happen but with Byron4Kids you can be prepared!! A number of places offer indoor-based activities which are great for the super-wet days… and great for the parents too as you can kick back and have a bit of much needed ‘me time’ knowing that your child is going to be having a ball for the next few hours!

Circus Arts is a fully equipped, 1200sqm, indoor space offering a range of unique activities from kinder to teens (and adults too!) Try Flying trapeze, Indoor climbing, Circus skills, Aerial Skills, Parkour, Gymnastics to name a few and… if your little one isn’t quite ready to try a class, there’s always the fantastic playspace for littlies to have fun while you can sit back and enjoy a cuppa from the onsite cafe and take advantage of the free wifi.
Spaghetti Circus in Mullumbimby also offer half and full day Circus Programs and provide foundation training in aerials, tumbling, acro-balance, mini-tramp, juggling, hula hoops and much more! The classes are designed to be fun, social and supportive AND sell out fast so get your name down quick!
Also keeping your kids active and off the couch are Ballina Gymnastics who this holidays are offering a morning or afternoon session on Thursdays during the holidays. These half day classes are open to all – so if you want to try – this is the ideal opportunity!
New to Byron4Kids this school holidays is Oceanic Gymnastics who are offering 2 hour sessions for ages 4-12, 3 days a a week at their venue in South Tweed. Their Holiday Program includes a structured lesson on bars, beam and floor plus group activities, games and fun with their trampolines, ball pit and foam pit.
CrossFit Kids Byron Bay is offering a 1 hour program on Wednesdays and Thursday for 3 -14 year olds. It’s a fun strength, skills and conditioning program specially designed for kids and teenagers allowing them to participate in fun and engaging workouts in similar age groups that deliver measurable results.
KidzKlub are offering their half day (afternoon) school holiday program in the centre of town at Byron Bay Community Centre and half and full day sessions at the Lennox Head Cultural and Community Centre. With areas for art and craft, drama, sports and games; the kids can play freely and creatively in each area with the fabulous equipment and materials or join in with structured sessions facilitated by qualified staff.
STILL INDOORS BUT…
If your child is feeling creative, there are some fantastic crafty workshops being held by Meet Make Create for children age 5+ where children spend half or full days immersed in artistic creativity. Classes range from glorious Easter Craft to fantastic Pottery workshops. Talking of Pottery Workshops, there is also an awesome Kids Pottery Workshop for 9 -12 year olds is being held by Kate Hunter Walker at Zani Ceramics on Monday’s.
Bricks4Kidz are back with their awesome special feature school holiday LEGO workshops at the Cavanbah Centre. This time, experience the world of MineCraft® in this creative school holiday program! A full day workshop takes place at the Cavanbah Centre in Byron bay on Friday 21 April.
Or how about Design a Deck at NRCG in Ballina! On Thursday 20 April Jeremy Austin joins Northern Rivers Community Gallery for a 2 hour skate graphics session, guiding you through creating your very own skate deck design!

One of the all time fave’s is School Skate Camp. Byron Bay Skateboard School is offering just 3 days of School Holiday Skate Camp this Easter Hols. Join them for a tour around all the best skateparks in the area and spend a full day skating with the pros!
Based at The Farm Byron Bay, Farm Kids is holding a number of hands-on 3 hour workshops for kids with their exciting themed workshops focused on Pigs and Cows, Medicinal Herbs, Planting, Chooks and Bee Fun. The children are taken on an educational and fun tour of The Farm where they are educated about the pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. The children get up close and personal with chickens, collect eggs, pick and taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.
And what is a school holiday without a trip to the Macadamia Castle? Not only that, they also offer a special hands-on school holiday program – Wildlife Guardians for 7-11 year olds. Learn about conservation and caring for our native wildlife and handle Lizards, snakes and crocodiles!
SHOWS & ENTERTAINMENT!
What better way to launch Easter Weekend than with a REALLY GOOD GOOD FRIDAY CIRCUS BONANZA! Packaged, wrapped and delivered in true Brunswick Picture House style, this all-ages gala of epic proportions will make you laugh until your belly hurts and then a little bit more. Be amazed and astonished as this extravaganza of local and international circus performers razzle and dazzle their way into your hearts and tickle your funny bones.
Byron Theatre is presenting 2 performances on 22 April of the kids show ‘Chores!’ The story of two brothers hanging out in their very very messy bedroom. Mum wants them to clean it up and when they hear her coming they step up the pace to make sure they don’t get into trouble! High level circus stunts and uproarious, interactive gags, with very little spoken dialogue, the audience will find themselves on the edge of their seats and giggling until the chores are done.
Plus the Pighouse Flicks Lounge Cinema in Byron is putting on some great kids movies this holidays including Lion (PG), Smurfs The Lost Village (G), The Boss Baby (G) and Beauty & The Beast (PG).
Club Lennox has organised a fun free kids disco event and kids bingo, Cherry St Sports is holding a free Little Cherries Club Easter Fancy Dress Disco, free Magic Shows and ALL DAY JUMPING CASTLES over Easter Weekend. Byron Bay Services Club has a free, fully supervised dedicated kids lounge with creative crafts, colouring, games and movies.
Not to be left out are some fabulous craft creations to be made with FREE activities at the local libraries including No worries Worry Dolls and Storytime with Fairy Poppilina at Byron Bay; Making Paper Planes, Yarn Craft, Simple Origami and modelling with air-dry dough at Lennox Head; Matisse By The Sea at Brunswick Heads; and Lego Fun and beading at Ballina Library.
The Roundabout Theatre will be staging a number of FREE, ALL AGES POP-UP PLAY SPACE EVENTS around Byron CBD A mix of old fashioned lawn games, Victorian parlour games, with a sprinkle of Olympics – it’s a get your knees dirty with a new friend event – musical chairs, giant twister, egg and spoon race, extended hopscotch and loads more games you’ve never heard of!
Other FREE activities, events and workshops throughout the school holidays include Hands on Pizza Making, Stay ‘n’ Play and Meet The Easter Bunny at Ballina Fair and Bunny Ears & Easter Crown Craft, a Teddy Bear Show and Meet The Easter Bunny at Ballina Central.
There are also some awesome FREE activities and events for girls age 12+ at Future Dreamers Girls Club based in central Byron Bay with titles such as Hip Hop Mash Up, Calligraphy Workshop, Life Notes with Julia Stone, Festival Hair… I want to go to them all!!!
