COVID-19 & Byron4Kids What’s On Guide
18 March, 2020
After some careful consideration, I put out a post on Byron4Kids social media on Monday 16 March about sharing events and activities on our What’s On Guide over the next few weeks and more due to COVID-19😔. I have now included that post here on the website as things continue to change and challenge with ferocity. At the time of writing this, we could be days or hours away from mandatory 14 day self-isolation. When you read this, that may already be the case.
Like with the fires and with the floods that preceded the virus – activities and events are being cancelled left, right and centre but unlike the weather events, information changes hourly and I simply can’t keep up with the changes. 🤪
From huge events like Bluesfest to small, weekly get togethers like Bub Hub – some are cancelled, some are going ahead until further notice and many are changing with just a few hours notice or less.
At the same time, my in-box is filling up with emails from businesses and organisations promoting their upcoming Easter & school holiday activities and wanting to be listed.
So, I’ve come to the decision to not actively promote events over social media but to simply LIST THE EVENTS on the What’s On Guide on the website however I have made a note at the top of each day to say:
***NOTE: ALL EVENTS LISTED MAY BE CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19. PLS CHECK WITH ORGANISER FIRST***
In the description of an event on the What’s On Guide, I generally list the contact details of the event/activity organiser. This could be a Facebook Event page, phone number or email.
That way at least you can see what’s happening or meant to be happening and click on the link or call the number and find out on the day if it’s going ahead.
I hope that helps to keep you informed.
Stay safe and sending much love to you all at this time 💛💛💛 Michelle x
