This highly inclusive community event showcases good old-fashioned fun at its best regardless of age or status. Everyone can participate whether as individuals, families, workplaces or schools.
The main focus of the day is not the speed of the entries but family fun for participants and spectators. The Grand Parade is a highlight, taking place at 12.30pm featuring local bands, vintage cars, schools, local clubs, scouts and celebrities.
There is a race for everyone; 5-7 year olds, 8-11 year olds 12-15 year olds, Parent and Child, Mothers, Juniors, Seniors, Sporting Clubs, and categories range from Traditional, Home Grown, Novelty and Celebrity!
Innovative designs are a crowd pleaser with the only conditions (for all carts) being weight which must be under 75kg, width must not exceed 1200mm, fixed seating and adequate braking and steering.
Billy Cart registration starts at 7am in the Bangalow Hotel and Racing begins at 9am sharp.
Mad Hatters Tea Party
Drivers and spectators of the annual Bangalow Billy Cart Derby will also be able to take a trip down the rabbit hole to the Mad Hatter’s Derby Tea Party to help raise funds for Bangalow Public School.
The event features a jumping castle, ferris wheel, merry-go-round, art and craft stalls and food, coffee, cake and drink stalls.
The annual Mad Hatter’s Derby Tea Party is Bangalow Public School’s biggest fundraiser and is run to coincide with the crowds at the Billy Cart Derby and provides the perfect haven for kids and families to come to when they’re not on their billy carts.
