The Neighbourhood Centre can be found on the corner of Dalley and Tincogan Streets next door to the Civic Memorial Hall and opposite the Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club. If you are coming by car, parking spots are available in front, opposite and along the side of the building.
Play Tunes Playgroup takes place in a designated room within the Neighbourhood Centre. Inica, the playgroup organiser and facilitator, has created an interactive seasonally themed program based around connection with your child. Activites vary over blocks of time to progress with the childrens learning. On the day I attended, she ran gentle and thoughtful activities including creating sock-puppets, sensory guessing games, nature themed songs, dance and activities surrounding feelings and emotions woven together with music and movement creating a simply magical world for any child to enjoy and engage in on many levels. The age range for this group is from around 2 to 5 year olds.
Everyone is invited to bring along a sugar free morning tea snack for the kids to share for after the singing component of the program. There are no joining fees and you can attend when it suits you. The playgroup requests a $10 donation to cover the costs of running the group, craft items, morning tea and/or replacement of toys.
