General Information

With its relaxed approach and inclusive fun vibe, Artspace is a program designed to encourage youth to form a community within the Brunswick Heads Library branch.

It follows a loose program of diverse art activities including fun attempts at a work from a famous artist  or concept.  This is presented to the group in the form of an instructional handout and materials.  A brief explanation of the work and some general information about the artistic movement is informally discussed including ideas and the times and culture of the movement. Books on the artist or concepts are available as inspiration.

Kids are encouraged to share their experiences and knowledge and all participants are provided with a folder to keep at the branch with instruction and fact sheets as well as their work to take home.

Parents are welcome to stay or drop and go.

The benefit of running such a program for the branch is the positive engagement of young people with their local library and the provision of a safe, welcoming  space that they can have ownership of.

Get down there and check it out after school on Wednesdays!!
